Georgia in CB Sport through years

Between 2021 and 2024, Georgia did not have any selected projects under the Capacity Building in Sport (CB Sport) program. However, in 2025, there was significant progress, with five cases of participation in three projects involving Georgia being selected. Out of these, two projects included Georgia as a partner, while one project was coordinated by a Georgian organization. This marks a positive development for Georgia’s engagement in the CB Sport program, indicating a growing role in fostering international collaboration in the field of sports (Table 1, Graph 1).

Description of selected projects:

Social Act plus: Cycling for Inclusion and Wellbeing:  The project addresses challenges in the sports sector such as social inclusion, environmental sustainability and active mobility. Its main goal is to promote cycling as a sustainable form of transport and a tool for improving physical and mental well-being. By focusing on marginalized groups (such as young people, people with disabilities, migrants and socio-economically vulnerable people), the project aims to break down barriers caused by the lack of infrastructure for cycling, limited awareness and financial constraints.

Good Governance Game: The project focuses on promoting good governance principles in the European hockey community. The “Good Governance Game” was initially designed as a pilot project, specifically for Georgia and Armenia, but the ultimate goal is to expand the project and take it to European countries. With values such as transparency, teamwork, fairness, inclusion and respect integrated into the game, the project aims to foster a culture of integrity and cooperation in the sports sector.

Capacity Building for Orienteering Development in Georgia: The project aims to develop and promote orienteering in Georgia through improved training, infrastructure and international cooperation. The initiative aims to integrate orienteering into school curricula, train 15-20 national trainers and physical education teachers, and establish a new orienteering club equipped with 10 newly designed maps and necessary equipment. In partnership with Turkey, joint events will be organized throughout the project, including international and local competitions and study visits to Sweden. A digital platform will also be created to support lifelong learning and ensure the sustainability of the project. By expanding infrastructure, certifying trainers and promoting international partnerships, the project aims to raise awareness of orienteering in Georgia and beyond, throughout the region.
