until 2014

Tempus, Erasmus Mundus, Jean Monnet

An overview of TEMPUS (1995-2013) and Erasmus Mundus (2007-2013) projects in Georgia, including statistics, is provided by the TEMPUS National Office in the report

Tempus

Tempus is a program of the European Union, which was created in 1990 and whose purpose was to promote the reform of higher education in the partner countries of the European Union. Since 2014, the Tempus program has been replaced by the Erasmus + institutional development program.

30 Georgian higher education institutions (both state and private) from nine cities (Tbilisi, Kutaisi, Batumi, Gori, Telavi, Zugdidi, Akhaltsikhe, Akhalkalaki and Tsnori) participated in Tempus projects since 1995 (full list of projects with list of partners is given below).

The number of applications and funded projects was constantly increasing, which on the one hand reflects the growth of the program budget, and at the same time the growing interest and motivation of Georgian partners (Table 1).

Erasmus Mundus

Erasmus Mundus is a cooperation and mobility program in the field of higher education that promotes both institutional cooperation e.g. in the development of joint master's programs, as well as individual exchanges of students and professors. Within the Erasmus+ program, it will be replaced by credit mobility and degree mobility activities.

Georgian universities participated in 23 mobility consortia since 2007.

Jean Monet

Within the framework of the Jean Monnet program, five projects have been implemented in Georgia until 2014.
