International Zero Waste Day and Erasmus+'s commitment to environmental sustainability!
On December 2022, 14, the United Nations General Assembly, at its forty-seventh session, adopted a resolution declaring March 30 as the International Zero Waste Day.
Every year, households, businesses and public services generate more than 2 billion tons of solid waste. However, waste management services around the world are unable to cope with this volume. Solving this problem is crucial for a sustainable future.
The Erasmus+ programme promotes sustainable policies, waste reduction and new opportunities through training and mobility. By participating in Erasmus+ projects, individuals gain skills that help them make innovative and environmentally friendly decisions – whether it is reducing waste in their daily lives or implementing sustainable strategies in institutions, organisations, workplaces and society.
March 30 – International Zero Waste Day reminds us that small changes in our daily lives and education have a global impact. Together, we can create a more sustainable and waste-free future.
