Mobility in the vocational education and training sector
{Last Update: 24.12.2025}
Mobility programs in the direction of professional education and training provide mobility activities for students and employees of relevant institutions.
Within the framework of the above-mentioned program, it is possible to finance multifaceted activities, such as work observation, professional development courses of employees, trainings, invitation of experts and others.
Program Objectives
The main goal of the program is to support representatives of the field of professional education and training in order to strengthen internationalization for their institutional development. More specifically, the program, together with the horizontal orientation of the Erasmus+ program, has the following objectives:
Improving the quality of vocational training institutions in the initial and continuing mode (IVET / CVET) across Europe:
- Strengthening key competences and transversal skills, in particular language learning and digital skills
- Support the development of job-specific skills needed in the current and future labor market
- Sharing best practices and promoting the use of new and innovative pedagogical methods and technologies, as well as supporting the professional development of teachers, trainers, mentors and other VET staff
- Strengthening the capacity of VET providers to implement high-quality mobility projects and building their capacity to establish quality partnerships when developing their internationalization strategies.
- Making mobility a realistic opportunity for any learner Increasing the average duration of mobility of learners in initial vocational education and training (IVET) as well as continuing vocational education and training (CVET) to enhance its quality and impact
- Promoting the quality, transparency and recognition of learning outcomes of mobility periods abroad, in particular by using European methods and tools.
Strengthening the European dimensions of teaching and learning through the following actions;
- promoting the values of inclusion, diversity, tolerance and democratic participation;
- promoting knowledge about the common European heritage and diversity;
- promoting the establishment of professional networks across Europe;
Types of mobility:
- Students and staff Short-term mobility, Within the framework of which, mobility participants have the opportunity to benefit from the program for a short period of time - up to 6-18 months; (the program is implemented by the institution upon submission of an application). Short-term projects are the best choice for organisations applying for Erasmus+ for the first time, or for those who only want to organise a limited number of activities;
- Accredited Student and Staff Mobility Programs – This allows Erasmus+ accredited institutions to regularly receive funding to support mobility programs. (The program is implemented by the institution by submitting an application).
- With an existing mobility consortium Mobility through connectivity (does not require an application from the requesting institution).
- Hosting mobility participants from other countries – in which any organization from third countries not associated with the program can participate. (No application is required from the interested institution)
Representatives of vocational schools and training centers are encouraged to join such online platforms as EPALE and eTwinning. These platforms help the participants, in an online format, to meet their foreign colleagues, exchange ideas through blog posts or forums, share various materials and find partners. As for eTwinning, it provides the opportunity to connect with online classrooms and implement projects with vocational education providers.
Implementation of mobility projects
The mobility project in the VET direction belongs to the Erasmus+ program Key Action 1. Within the framework of the program, the applicant organization creates and submits a project application, signs a grant agreement with the National Agency of the Erasmus+ program. And also takes responsibility for the preparation of project reports on how the project implementation process was carried out.
Category of permitted applicant countries: Program countries and third countries associated with the program.
Participation in mobility programs of third countries that are not associated with the program (eg Georgia): Third countries that are not associated with the program may participate in the VET mobility program, but can only join the project in the host format and receive participants from mobility countries.
