Georgia participates in five projects under the Capacity Building in Higher Education (CBHE) project (2025)

Capacity Building Projects in Higher Education are transnational cooperation initiatives based on multi-stakeholder partnerships. These initiatives mainly involve higher education institutions from EU Member States or countries associated with the Programme, and from third countries not associated with the Programme. The budgets of CBHE projects vary and the value of each project ranges from 200,000 to 1,000,000 euros.
As of 2025, Georgia has participated in five projects funded under the Capacity Building in Higher Education (CBHE) program. Among them, in 3 as a coordinator and in 2 as a partner. Projects in which Georgia is represented as a partner belong to the Cross Regional type of projects.

- Coordinator: TASHKENT KIMYO INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY (Uzbekistan)
- Participants from Georgia: Georgian Institute of Research and Innovation, Akaki Tsereteli State University, Shota Rustaveli State University and Georgian University of Technology.
It is noteworthy that in 2025, 18 Georgian participations were recorded in the winning projects with Georgian participation. Of these, one institution was involved in three different projects, which means that 16 unique organizations from Georgia are participating in CBHE projects.
Regional context
Georgia belongs to Region 2 – Eastern Partnership, which consists of 5 different countries eligible to participate in CBHE projects: Georgia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Moldova and Ukraine. The winning projects in the countries of the region are distributed as follows:

Cumulative results
Since 2014, Georgia has been the coordinator of 22 CBHE projects and has been involved as a partner in 69 projects.

The goal of capacity building projects in the field of higher education is to contribute to the improvement of the educational landscape through international cooperation, innovation, and the introduction of best practices in higher education.
